Generous Giving

Everything we have is a gift from God. As followers of Jesus Christ, we recognize that our time, abilities, possessions, and financial resources have been entrusted to us by God to be faithfully stewarded for his glory and the good of others. Because God is the giver of every good gift, we seek to honor him by offering him the first and best of what he has entrusted to us. Generous giving therefore, is not primarily about meeting a budget; it is an act of worship, gratitude, and trust. It is one of the ways we participate in God’s mission of making all things new.

At All Saints, we encourage every member to grow in the biblical practice of generosity by offering their time, talents, and treasure in joyful response to God’s abundant grace. The body of Christ is called to teach, serve, encourage, pray, lead, welcome, sing, visit, and care for those in need, and faithfully support the ministry of the Church through financial giving. Together, these gifts enable the Body of Christ to flourish, proclaim the Gospel, care for those in need, and bear faithful witness to God’s Kingdom as we participate in his mission of making all things new.

The New Testament teaches that Christians are to give willingly, generously, and cheerfully—not under compulsion, but as an expression of love for God and confidence in his faithful provision (2 Corinthians 9:6–8). While the New Testament does not prescribe a specific percentage for Christian giving, many believers have found the biblical narrative to teach that a tithe is a faithful starting point for growing in generosity. We do not give to earn God’s favor; we give because, in Jesus Christ, we have already received every spiritual blessing. Generosity is simply gratitude made visible.

At All Saints, we also seek to model the generosity we encourage. As God’s people faithfully support the ministry of the local church, our parish intentionally gives a tithe of its income to our Diocese, and our Diocese likewise gives a tithe to the Anglican Church in North America. This pattern of generosity—sometimes called the 10-10-10 Principle—reflects our conviction that generosity should flow throughout the whole Church. We believe every level of the Church is called not only to receive God’s gifts, but also to give generously for the sake of Christ’s mission. In this way, generosity strengthens local ministry, supports church planting, raises up leaders, advances global mission, and reminds us that we are part of something far greater than ourselves.
